Critical Thinking Styles and Their Relationship to Mental Health from an Islamic Perspective among Students of the American University of Madaba, Jordan

The study aims to examine critical thinking skills from an Islamic perspective among students at the American University of Madaba in Jordan, and to identify the relationship between critical thinking and mental health from an Islamic perspective .to achieve the objectives of the study, the deductive and descriptive-analytical approaches were adopted. The study population consisted of students from the colleges of the American University of Madaba in Jordan. A random sample of undergraduate and master's students was selected, comprising 70 students (40 male and 30 female students). The study relied on the Critical Thinking Scale prepared by me. It also relied on the Mental Health Scale prepared by me. The instruments were administered to the sample and the date were statistically analysed using the Statistical package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) employing person correlation coefficients and Cronbach alpha, in addition to calculating means and standard deviations. the result revealed a high level of mental health among students at the American University of Madaba. The study also found no statically significant differences in students’ estimations of critical thinking styles from an Islamic perspective or their estimations of mental health levels attributable to the variables of gender, educational level, age or academic specialization. In addition, the findings confirmed the existence of a strong and statistically significant correlation between critical thinking styles from an Islamic perspective and mental health among students at the American University of Madaba, as well as the possibility of predicting mental health levels through critical thinking styles from an Islamic perspective. Accordingly, the study recommended providing training courses within the University environment aimed at developing students critical thinking skills due to their important role in enhancing mental health and strengthening the level of self-awareness..
