Research in Islamic Education: Between Current Reality and Future Prospects

This study aims to demonstrate the importance of research in Islamic Education generally, and as a subject within the educational curriculum specifically, given its central role in building the learner's personality and preserving their identity. The study discusses the position of Islamic Education within the Moroccan curriculum and its evolution leading up to the revised June 2016 curriculum. It tracks the research trajectory in the subject and the fields that have attracted researchers' interest. Furthermore, the study offers practical proposals for developing research in various areas, including: general Islamic education, curriculum and assessment, didactics and its various research problems, and educational phenomena related to the subject. All of this is aimed at improving the teaching of this core subject so it can fulfill its primary functions in building the Muslim personality.
