The Problem of Liberation from Sins – Part One

Abstract

This research addresses one of the most ambiguous issues in human awareness, despite the assumption of many researchers—even specialists—that it is possible to fully understand the reasons why human beings intentionally commit injustice and engage in sins and wrongdoing without distinguishing between right and wrong or respecting the standards of lawful and unlawful conduct, as well as the prevailing social values and principles to which society generally adheres.

Whether these violations concern religious prohibitions or social norms, the underlying cause of aggression against these rights remains the same: the absence of an inner moral restraint that stabilizes the human soul. Few specialists have paid sufficient attention to this factor. Therefore, this study focuses on this issue through three central themes: attachment to other than God, anger for reasons other than God, and desire toward what God has forbidden.

If awareness of these dangers becomes firmly rooted in human conviction, the level of virtuous values within society would increase, and society would develop greater moral capacity. Consequently, individuals inclined toward deviant behavior would become fewer and easier to identify, enabling society to limit sources of wrongdoing and confine them to a small number, similar to what was witnessed in the earliest Muslim community.
